HAPPY NEW YEAR! It seems everyone is excited about starting a NEW YEAR that just has to be better than 2021! We Niners closed out the year with our annual Christmas/Holiday Luncheon on December 9th, with 32 of us in attendance. Awards were announced before we enjoyed a delicious lunch and Theresa Graham’s always-terrific slide show featuring pictures of our Niners in action. This year’s show included pictures from 2020 as well as 2021, since we weren’t able to hold our luncheon last year. After lunch, our Gift Exchange was as rowdy and entertaining as ever, and everyone went home with a new Christmas present!

Awards were presented that morning. For the first half of the year, the winners were: 1st Place – Joy Hulsey; 2nd Place – Sandy Weissenbacher; 3rd Place – Tamara Billerbeck; 4th Place – Myrna Grossman; 5th Place – Denise Metz. For the second half of the year, the winners were: 1st Place – Susie Weinberger; 2nd Place – Kristin Burrup; 3rd Place – Denise Metz; 4th Place – Katie Gilchrest; 5th Place – Sandy Weissenbacher and Tamera Billerbeck tied.

Our Most Improved Golfer of the Year was Kristin Burrup! In other categories, Most Pars – Kristin Burrup; Most Birdies – Tamera Billerbeck and Sandy Weissenbacher; Most OTL’s (Over the Lake) – Kathy Blakeley and Sandy Weissenbacher; Most Chip-Ins – Tamera Billerbeck, Katie Gilchrest and Shirley Montalvo; Spring EC – Tamera Billerbeck; Fall EC Winner – Katie GilchrestCONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR 2021 WINNERS! GREAT JOB!

“The Grinch Stole My Ball!” Fun Day was held on December 16. There was a great turnout despite the VERY wet weather, as in constant rain. The winning teams were: 1st Place – Lindsay Valle and Susie Weinberger; 2nd Place – Diana Pena and Sheilah Gall; 3rd Place – Gina Crofut and Shirley Montalvo. The “Grinch” with the most balls at the end? Sheilah Gall! Kristin Burrup again did a super job of organizing the morning’s round, providing treats before and after, and having fun prizes. One last Fun Day on December 30th was also held to ring in the new year.

To continue providing brief backgrounds on the Niners who joined us this year, meet Gina Crofut and Sheri Hoffman. Gina Crofut grew up in Chicago, moved to Iowa to earn her degree and has been a professional Hair Stylist since 1994. For the past 20 years, after she and Dave moved to Cameron Park from Iowa, Gina has worked out of an office in her home. They joined CPCC in 2012, but she only started playing golf in 2020 and joined the Niners in May 2021. Gina and Dave celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary in September 2021, having met at a wedding in Illinois, when a friend of hers was marrying a friend of his from Oregon, where he grew up and graduated from the University of Oregon. Dave is a mortgage broker with Land Home Financial, based in Concord with an office in Cameron Park. Their 18-year-old son, Dominic, and their 15-year-old daughter, Gianna, both attend Ponderosa High where they are a Senior and a Sophomore, respectively. They also have a 10-year-old Shitzu! Welcome, Gina!

Sheri Hoffman and her husband, Joe, have lived in El Dorado Hills since 2004, having moved there after 10 years in Folsom. They joined CPCC in 2015, although Sheri has only been playing golf for two years and just joined us in September this year. Sheri and Joe met in their second year of law school at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and they took the Bar Exam together. This is their 27th year in practice at their own firm, Hoffman and Hoffman, Business and Family Law. Sheri specializes in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law. Their 21-year-old daughter is a Senior at Arizona State, and their 19-year-old son is a Sophomore at Boise State, and a golfer! At home they enjoy the company of their 7-year-old male German Shepherd and their 5-year-old female Great Dane ~ more dog lovers among us! Welcome, Sheri!

We also had another lady golfer join us in December, Sandy Hanavan, so be sure to keep looking for fun background information on more new members next month, and don’t forget to check out the Tournament results on our Niner Results page on the CPCC website.
